Tournament Bracket Generator

Build a single-elimination tournament bracket for 2 to 64 entrants, with byes placed correctly, seeded or random draw, and a one-page printable layout.

    How it works

Add each entrant's name, choose seeded order (the order you typed them in) or a random draw, then select "Build bracket." If your entrant count isn't a power of two, the generator rounds up and places byes so the strongest seeds get the first-round walkovers — never two byes in the same match. Click an entrant's name in any match to advance them; picking the other side clears any later picks that depended on the old winner. Everything is saved in your browser, so your bracket is still there if you reload the page.

Use this generator to run a single-elimination tournament for anywhere from 2 to 64 players or teams — a game night, a club ladder, or a one-day event. Enter your entrants, pick seeded or random order, and build the bracket; click through winners as the rounds are played to keep the whole bracket up to date.

    Tips for running a bracket

    Frequently asked questions

How are byes decided when the entrant count isn't a power of two?

The generator rounds your entrant count up to the next power of two and seeds every slot in the standard bracket order. Any slot above your real entrant count is empty, so the top seeds that land across from an empty slot get a first-round bye and advance automatically. No two byes ever end up in the same match.

What's the difference between seeded and random draw?

Seeded keeps the order you typed entrants in — entrant 1 is the top seed, entrant 2 is the next seed, and so on — which is what you want if you're seeding by ranking or standings. Random draw shuffles the entrants first and then seeds the shuffled order, for a blind draw.

Can I change a pick after I've clicked a winner?

Yes. Click the other entrant in that match to switch the winner. If your first pick had already been clicked through to a later round, that later pick is cleared automatically, since it depended on the winner you just changed.

    Does the bracket save automatically?

Yes — your entrant list and the current bracket (including every pick you've made) are saved in your browser's local storage, not on a server, so they're still there next time you open this page on the same device.

    Can I print the bracket?

Yes. Printing this page prints only the bracket itself, laid out on one landscape page, not the entrant list or the build/reset controls.
